Privacy Policy
How AeroGuard Safe Flight handles account, training, planning, and uploaded information.
This policy applies to the AeroGuard Safe Flight website and installed Home Screen web app. It describes the information we process, why we use it, who may access it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
We process identity and account details supplied by the sign-in service, including name, email address, approval status, role, training track, and instructor assignment. We also store information you enter, such as personal minimums, routes, readiness checks, FRAT records, homework and quiz progress, flight analyses, debriefs, notes, settings, and files you choose to upload.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users, approve access, provide safety-planning and training features, save progress, create reports, support instructor oversight, troubleshoot the service, protect accounts, and improve reliability and usability. AeroGuard does not use flight-planning records to make automated legal, medical, certification, or operational decisions.
Role-based visibility
Students can access their own account records. An assigned instructor may access the training records and progress necessary to provide instruction. Authorized owner administrators may review accounts, approvals, roles, and instructor assignments. Access is limited by the role recorded for the signed-in account.
Device storage and offline use
The app may keep limited copies of settings, unsent work, cached account status, or the last successful public-data display in browser storage so work can recover after a refresh or temporary loss of connectivity. Logging out removes the current account’s local workspace and queued changes after warning about unsynced work. Browser or device settings can also clear stored information.
Service providers and external sources
We use hosting, authentication, storage, and operational service providers to run AeroGuard. The app also requests public aviation information from third-party sources and links to official or community aviation websites. Those services receive standard network information, and their own privacy terms apply when you use them. Public aviation data may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable and does not replace required official sources or onboard traffic-avoidance equipment.
Sharing and sale
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information to service providers acting on our behalf, to authorized school personnel, when you direct us to share a report, or when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or maintain service security.
Retention and your choices
We retain account and training information while needed to provide the service, preserve authorized training records, meet legitimate operational or legal needs, and resolve disputes. Requests for access, correction, export, or deletion may be submitted to an authorized site administrator. Some records may be retained when required by law or a legitimate school recordkeeping obligation.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including verified sessions, server-side role checks, same-origin validation for account changes, request throttling, bounded and validated uploads, parameterized database access, protected cookies, no-store responses, and browser security headers. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Suspected account or data-security issues should be raised promptly with an authorized site administrator. Avoid placing highly sensitive information in free-text notes or uploads.
Children and student accounts
Accounts require administrator approval. AeroGuard is not directed to children under 13 for independent use. A school, parent, or guardian responsible for a minor should ensure the account is authorized and raise any privacy concern involving that student with an authorized site administrator.
Policy updates
We may update this policy as the service changes. A revised policy will show a new effective date, and material changes will be communicated through the service when appropriate.
